Medea Benjamin to visit BELFAST!! July 14, 2012
During the next few weeks, a team of writers and performers will be planning and rehearsing for a performance on July 14, 2012. This theater piece will be performed at the Shrine Club at 7 pm before those gathered to welcome to Belfast Medea Benjamin*, author of Drone Warfare: Killing by Remote Control, and cofounder of CODE PINK.
You are invited to participate and to help us spread the word to local performers, writers, and peace activists.Larraine Brown** will be directing the production.

• Monday, July 2, 4-6 pm
• Tuesday, July 3, 4-6 pm
• Sunday, July 8, 4-6 pm
• Friday, July 13, 6-8 pm
*Medea Benjamin has been an advocate for social justice for more than 30 years. Described as "one of America’s most committed -- and most effective -- fighters for human rights" by New York Newsday, and called "one of the high profile leaders of the peace movement" by the Los Angeles Times, Medea has distinguished herself as an eloquent and energetic figure in the progressive movement. In 2005 she was one of 1,000 exemplary women from 140 countries nominated to receive the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of the millions of women who do the essential work of peace worldwide. In 2010 she received the Martin Luther King, Jr. Peace Prize from the Fellowship of Reconciliation.
** Larraine Brown is a writer, theater activist and storyteller. She has facilitated a number of collaborative experimental theater projects throughout the country. Larraine uses a wide variety of techniques to promote personal and social change, drawing on her work with Brazilian revolutionary director Augusto Boal, David Diamond's Theatre for Living and renowned acting coach Deena Levy.
